A diesel particulate filter (DPF) can often become blocked, sometimes even under normal driving conditions which may cause an engine management light or fault code to be displayed.  And if ignored the car may even go into a safety limp mode that limits engine speed to help prevent any damage to the engine.

Ignoring a warning light associated with a blocked DPF can result in reduced fuel economy, poor throttle response, limited performance and from 25^th May 2018 is an MOT failure.

Letting PP Motor Group diagnose and clean a faulty DPF which is a much more cost-effective alternative to buying a replacement. A new DPF from your vehicle manufacturer is expensive – costing in the region of £1,000 for a typical family car and can be far more.

Whilst DPF’s are supposed to be able to ‘clean’ or regenerate themselves, this does require the engine to spend prolonged periods at an optimum running temperature, which often doesn’t happen with cars that only do short journeys or predominantly spend their time stuck in traffic.

DPF removal was often an option (although not a recommended one) however that is no longer legal and the owner can face significant fines along with being an instant MOT failure.
